News \ The Making of Stationery Movies

Stationery hit the big time when filming commenced on 'Stationery Movies' at Purestone's offices early in 2008.  The project was for clients 3M and Viking Direct as part of the 'Stardust' film promotions that 3M ran in 2008.

The brief was simple.  To come up with an online campaign that would put an entirely new spin on the relatively dry subject of stationery.  So what better way to enliven the stationery community by re-creating famous scenes from movies using stationery!

The site was built around an interactive quiz where by site visitors watched 20 short films and had to guess the film which inspired the stationery movie! It also had a community element to it, so those who were inspired by the films were encouraged to create their own Stationery Movies and send them in - a kind of quirky, stationery spin on YouTube.

The website generated over 250,000 unique visits across a 6 week intensive campaigns period which combined a full mix of online promotional activity.  From email marketing campaigns through to seeding exercise across key social networking sites.

The project generated a significant user base as people subscribed to the site, in addition the site created a consistent flow of traffic to specific product pages on Viking Directs e-commerce website where high volumes of transactions took place.

StationeryTV lives on and is still being played by people - you can visit it at: www.stationerytv.com.
